Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and we’re here to share our experience at this year’s Akron Pug Fest. We make it a tradition to attend this annual event because, well, we’re pug parents. The weather wasn’t on our side, with a chilly and rainy day, but that didn’t deter us from bringing our pug out to play with their furry friends. Pug Fest always has some adorable activities, like last year’s peanut butter licking contest and various dog treat vendors, making it a must-visit for us. So, come along and check it out with us!
This year’s Pug Fest took place on Sunday, October 15th, at Cascade Plaza in downtown Akron. The event was free to attend, and parking in the area was also free. The festivities ran from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but the turnout was a bit slow, likely due to the less-than-ideal weather. Our pug, Wadsworth, did us proud by winning the peanut butter licking contest, a moment we’ll cherish. Despite the initial rain, the weather cleared up, and the event became quite enjoyable. We saw quite a few pugs, and they even had a pug costume contest and a parade in store for the day.
While there were a decent number of craft booths, we noticed a slightly smaller selection of dog-related items this year, like homemade dog treats and accessories, which was a bit disappointing. The event had a good variety of food trucks and vendors. Interestingly, it reminded us of the Pickle Fest, but with significantly fewer people, which was a plus if you wanted to try some food truck delights without the crowds.
So, despite the gloomy weather, we had a great time at the Akron Pug Fest. We make it a point to attend every year, weather permitting, and it’s always a fantastic way to spend the day with our pugs and fellow dog lovers. If you’re in the Akron area next year, we’d recommend checking it out.
