Hey, it’s Wes and Jay, and welcome to DinkLife! Today, we’re at Clayton Bailey’s World of Wonders, presented by the Curated Storefront Foundation here in Akron. They specialize in transforming unused storefronts in downtown Akron, and this time, they’ve turned the old Polsky building into a pop-up museum. It’s our first pop-up museum experience, and we’re pretty excited about it. The exhibition has been running all summer and will continue until the end of November in 2023, so there’s plenty of time to check it out.
The exhibit is impressive, with three rooms filled with crazy robots, sculptures, and motion-activated displays. There’s a surreal charm to it, with a mix of weird and wonderful creations, like female Bigfoot sculptures, jolting skeletons, and even a mutant blob. It’s the kind of art that makes you want to push buttons and explore every nook and cranny.
This exhibit fits perfectly in Akron, a city that’s been revitalizing its downtown area, and Curated Storefront is playing a significant role in this transformation. We’ve seen firsthand how they’ve turned abandoned spaces into engaging displays of modern art. They’ve activated 26 vacated storefronts with over 100 exhibits, offering locals and visitors a unique way to experience art. As we wrap up our visit, we’re excited to learn that Clayton Bailey’s World of Wonders will become a permanent fixture in Akron, moving to a new location next spring. So, if you’re in the Akron area, don’t miss the chance to check out this fascinating exhibit. As always whatever you decide to do just get out there and do it!
