Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome to DinkLife! Come and join us as we embark on a day-long adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Many people often claim that Animal Kingdom is a half-day park, and ordinarily, Wes and I would agree. However, this time, we were accompanied by someone who had never experienced the magic, and we were determined to make the most of our day. From park open to close, we found ourselves racing against the clock and still couldn’t check off every item on our Disney to-do list.
Our day kicked off with a dash to Dinoland USA, where we hopped on the Dinosaur ride. Rumors abound about a future retheme, but for now, it’s a thrilling journey through time with a dash of impending asteroid doom. True to Disney form, the ride conveniently spills out into a gift shop, but who can resist a bit of Disney merchandise? We strolled through Dino Land, feeling a touch of nostalgia but also contemplating the need for a refresh.
On this particular day, we decided to make use of Genie Plus and individual Lightning Lane for Flight of Passage. Despite the strategic planning, the day remained jam-packed with activities. After Expedition Everest, we lucked out with an immediate seating at the Yak and Yeti for an early lunch. The food was a delightful surprise, and we highly recommend it to fellow Animal Kingdom visitors.
Our adventure continued with a stop at the Festival of The Lion King for a live performance that’s an absolute must-see. From there, we embarked on the Kilimanjaro Safaris, a safari experience that never fails to awe. The journey showcased everything from hippos to flamingos, offering a taste of the wild within the park.
As the day progressed, we ventured into Pandora – The World of Avatar, exploring the breathtaking Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. Even for non-Avatar fans, the immersive atmosphere is worth a visit. Wrapping up our day with a stroll through the Asia Trek, we encountered tigers, birds, and lizards, enjoying the serene ambiance of the walking trail.
As the sun began to set, we found ourselves racing against an impending storm, exploring the main gift shops before bidding Animal Kingdom farewell for the day. Despite the varying opinions about the park, Wes and I, being avid animal lovers, have a soft spot for Animal Kingdom’s unique charm. While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the park’s efforts to introduce new experiences leave us optimistic about its future.
