Christmas Eve at Strasbourg, France Christmas Markets

Hey, it’s Wes, and Chanda, and welcome to our festive adventure in Strasbourg, France! Christmas Eve has wrapped the city in a magical embrace, and we’re strolling through the centuries-old Christmas market, eager to share the enchantment with you. The air is filled with the sweet symphony of Christmas tunes, and every corner is illuminated with the warm glow of twinkling lights. Strasbourg, with its rich history dating back to 1570, has transformed into a winter wonderland, captivating us at every turn.

Our gastronomic journey kicked off right beneath the majestic fir tree, where the aroma of local delicacies beckoned. Starving and eager to fuel up, we dove into mouthwatering dishes – mine adorned with a savory mushroom cream sauce, and Chanda’s featuring a pork, cream and cheese sauce. The flavors were divine, with Chanda confessing she could happily devour the decadent cheese on its own. Strasbourg’s unique charm didn’t stop there.

Amidst the vibrant markets, we couldn’t help but notice the distinct character of Strasbourg compared to German markets. While Germany boasted more handcrafted treasures, Strasbourg leaned toward mass-produced delights. Yet, the city compensated with an abundance of delectable treats, from baguettes with ham and cheese to chewy Belgian waffles drenched in Nutella and whipped cream.

Oh, and here’s a handy tip for fellow travelers – the Strasbourg Christmas Market runs from November 24th at 2 pm to December 24th, 2023, closing at 6 pm. So, plan your visit accordingly to soak in the full festive experience. As the Christmas lights adorned the picturesque streets, we reflected on our day, concluding that Strasbourg, with its unique ambiance and culinary delights, is a Christmas experience like no other. The magic of the season, wrapped in the glow of lights and the spirit of celebration, makes Strasbourg a must-visit destination for any holiday enthusiast. 🎄✨
