Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome to DinkLife! Today finds us in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, like the Pretender song suggests. We stumbled upon the Emidio & Sons Banquet Center hosting Monster Fest, and being the curious souls we are, we decided to check it out. In the middle of winter, when things seem a bit dull, Northeast Ohio surprises us with something quirky. With a $10 entry fee, we had no idea what awaited us inside, but the packed parking lot hinted at something interesting.
As we entered, a stroke of luck gave us a free admission, and the organizers handed us a raffle ticket for hourly prize drawings. The venue was huge, with numerous vendors and a promise of a horror-filled day. We quickly found ourselves drawn to unique finds, like a Creepshow Tiki mug, which we promptly added to our collection. The event showcased an array of horror-themed merchandise, from Tiki mugs to action figures, and even a Rose Bud Motel reference.
The surprises continued with an unexpected encounter with a fellow content creator (daveruinsart), adding a personal touch to the experience. Despite our initial uncertainty, Monster Fest turned out to be much more entertaining than anticipated. For just $10 and an hour of our time, we immersed ourselves in a world of horror fandom, meeting actors from cult classics and indulging in all things spooky. As we left Cuyahoga Falls, we reflected on the unexpected pleasures of the day. Monster Fest exceeded our expectations, making it a delightful way to spend a February afternoon. So, as we always say in DinkLife, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
