Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome to DinkLife! Today, we’re at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Despite popular belief, it’s not in Cleveland, even though the concert T-shirts often say otherwise. Blossom is about half an hour south of Cleveland and hosts concerts from mid-May to mid-September. It’s also the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra, which is why we’re here tonight. We’re super excited because the orchestra is playing John Williams’ score live alongside a screening of “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
We got here early and set up our spot on the lawn. Blossom offers both lawn and pavilion seats, and if you’re sitting on the lawn for an orchestra concert, you can bring your own picnic, which is what we love to do. There are also plenty of food trucks and stands if you prefer to buy food here. However, if you’re here for a rock or country concert, note that you can’t bring in any outside food or drinks. The lawn experience is quite different depending on the type of concert, so plan accordingly.
One of our top tips is to bring plenty of drinks, especially since you’ll be here for a while. We learned the hard way that running out is no fun. Arriving early is key to getting a good spot and avoiding parking far away. They open the grounds 2.5 hours before the concert starts, so getting here ahead of time is crucial. Don’t forget bug spray and simple, easy-to-eat food for your picnic. We’ve got a Thai chicken pasta salad and some fruit tonight, along with our favorite pineapple mango and guava hard cider.
As we wrap up our evening at Blossom, we always leave a bit early to avoid the chaotic parking lot exit. Trust us, it can take up to two hours to get out if you wait until the end. Despite this, Blossom is a beautiful venue, and experiencing the Cleveland Orchestra here is truly special. If you’re ever in the Cleveland area, we highly recommend catching a performance. Thanks for joining us on DinkLife, and remember to get out there and enjoy whatever you decide to do!
