Hey, it’s Wes, and welcome to DinkLife! Tonight, we’re up at Cedar Point for HalloWeekends on a Thursday night. I actually visited last week but didn’t film anything then. This time, I wanted to show you guys some of the decorations and special food items they’ve got for this year. There’s one new walkthrough area—Cutthroat Cove, a pirate-themed scare zone, which was really cool. Other than that, the haunted houses are pretty much the same as last year. My favorite house this year has to be Cornstalkers 2.0, but I also have a soft spot for Haunted Manor.
We got here early, so we took advantage of early entry to hop on Millennium Force right at the start. Walking through the park, I noticed some cool new decorations—especially over by Raptor and the kids’ area. They’ve also added some big inflatable characters and interactive lantern stops, similar to what we saw at Kings Island. Unfortunately, being a Thursday, there were no shows going on, but the eerie atmosphere with all the fog and lighting effects still made for a spooky vibe.
As the night went on, we checked out some of the more atmospheric parts of the park. I especially loved the way they’ve decorated around Steel Vengeance and Maverick. There are fog machines that send clouds over the coasters, and the lighting makes for an awesome nighttime ride. We managed to get rides, and it’s a totally different experience after dark—definitely something I recommend if you visit during Halloween. Walking around with all the fog and seeing the skeletons, graveyards, and giant pumpkins really brings the Halloween spirit to life.
Overall, we didn’t hit up many haunted houses this time since the lines were pretty long, but the night rides more than made up for it. Cedar Point really shines during HalloWeekends, especially at night. If you’re thinking about visiting, this is the time to go! Thanks for joining me on this spooky adventure, and as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
