Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome to DinkLife! We’re in Cincinnati, Ohio, revisiting the American Sign Museum. It’s been 10 years since our last visit, and honestly, I remember bits and pieces, but so much has changed since then. We figured it was time to come back, explore what’s new, and bring you along for the ride. As soon as we pulled up, we noticed they’ve added some new displays outside the building, which was already a good sign (pun intended). Let’s head inside and check things out!
Right when we walked in, we spotted some cool merchandise in the gift shop. The prices weren’t bad either—$20 for a shirt and $10 for some neat little pins. Once inside the museum, it was like stepping back in time. From vintage signs like Burger King’s 1972 Tampa sign to old brewery signs and even a massive Big Boy statue, every corner had something nostalgic to offer. The craftsmanship of these signs, especially the gold leaf and glass techniques, was amazing. I had to stop and admire the giant boot sign—so unique!
As we moved deeper into the museum, we found ourselves mesmerized by the neon glow that filled the room. From gas station signs to giant bowling alley displays, the collection here is insane. One of the coolest things was a giant flipping advertisement board that rotated between different signs—definitely something you don’t see anymore. We also checked out the sign restoration area, where they work on bringing these old treasures back to life. It’s wild to think about how much effort goes into saving and maintaining these pieces of history.
After about an hour of exploring, we wrapped up our visit. The museum isn’t huge, so you can see everything in about an hour or two. It’s $20 for adults, $10 for kids, and $15 for seniors, with the option of a guided tour if you want a deeper dive into the history. Whether you’re into vintage signs or just looking for a unique spot in Cincinnati, we’d definitely recommend stopping by. As always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
