Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda! We wanted to share our journey to Thorpe Park, all the way from King’s Cross Station in London. Since we didn’t have a car, we took public transportation, which turned out to be an adventure in itself. Starting at our hotel near King’s Cross, we hopped on the Victoria Line to Oxford Circus and then transferred to Waterloo. Once at Waterloo Station, we easily bought our round-trip tickets from a friendly staff member who pointed us to our platform. The total journey, including the metro, took about an hour and a half. Not bad for a trip out of central London!
Upon arriving at Thorpe Park, we were struck by the heightened security—far more thorough than in the States. Every bag and pocket was searched, but we breezed through in about 10 minutes. After exploring the park, we headed straight for Hyperia, their newest coaster, which happens to be the tallest and fastest in the UK. Though we waited a good 45 minutes due to only one car running, the ride was totally worth it. The airtime and unexpected hangtime had us feeling like we were going to fly out of our seats, and there were no unnecessary restraints, just a comfy lap bar. If you’re into coasters, Hyperia is a must-do!
One of the highlights of our day was experiencing the park’s haunted houses during their Halloween event. We loved that each house had a different theme, with “Trailers” being a personal favorite. It’s designed like you’re stepping into an old horror film, complete with elaborate sets and spooky actors who got really close—without crossing any boundaries. The group we were with took their time, which gave us the chance to take in all the eerie details. While some houses had strong smells piped in (which we assume were intentional), the overall theming was top-notch, and the slower pace made it even more immersive.
