Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda! Today, we’re at Novelty Automation, a hidden gem in Holborn, London. We stumbled across this place thanks to Matt Richardson’s video (shout-out to him!) and had to check it out. We didn’t know much going in, so it was all a surprise – especially since it’s filled with these crazy, satirical mechanical machines. It’s free to enter, and you can buy tokens inside to interact with the machines. Think of it as an artsy arcade with some very British humor and wit.
Inside, we found all kinds of quirky setups – from a “small hadron collider” to an “expressive photo booth” and even a mock “divorce machine.” We went all in and got enough tokens to try every game, which was 27 pounds for the 34-token package. It might sound a little pricey, but the experience is totally worth it. Each machine was different, fun, and had its own quirky little souvenir. In one game, I actually won a Nobel Prize sticker! The photo booth gave us some fantastic pictures.
It was a riot. Wes got frisked, punched, and handled by a robot, and there was even a bedbug detection scenario. Every machine had its own personality, and we had a blast exploring each one.
If you’re in London, Novelty Automation is well worth an hour of your day. The staff was super friendly, and the whole experience was something we’d definitely recommend. Just remember to bring an open mind and a good sense of humor – these machines aren’t your typical arcade games, but that’s exactly what makes them so unforgettable. Two big thumbs up from us – remember to get out there and do it!
