Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome back to DinkLife! Today, we’re continuing our Paris journey with a wine and cheese tasting at Ô Chateau, an amazing spot we found using our Turbo Pass. Getting here was a breeze—once you get the hang of the Paris metro, it’s pretty simple to navigate. After hopping off at the right stop, we were ready to dive into some of the finest French cheeses and wines. The experience was even better with the extra $20 per person upgrade for wine pairings, which I highly recommend if you’re serious about getting the full experience.
Our sommelier was fantastic and really helped explain each pairing. We started with Brie, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful—nothing like the Brie you find at home. The pairing with Chardonnay was perfect. From there, we moved on to a goat cheese called Cacherel, which was quite strong, especially if you’re not a fan of pungent cheeses. But the real highlight for me was the third cheese—a firm cow’s milk cheese that was very similar to Parmesan but with a richer, more complex flavor. Paired with a dry Chardonnay, it was a flavor explosion that I didn’t know I needed.
As we worked our way through the cheeses, we also sipped on different wines, including a lovely rosĂ© with the fourth cheese, Kantal, a salty, Parmesan-like option. Finally, we ended with a blue cheese, which was paired with a sweet wine. It was a nice contrast, and even though blue cheese isn’t usually my go-to, this version was unique and surprisingly delicious.
Overall, the tasting was a fantastic experience and definitely worth the upgrade. If you’re in Paris and using the Turbo Pass, I highly recommend making time for this. The food and wine were incredible, and the staff was super friendly, making it a memorable afternoon. Plus, it’s a great way to slow down and really enjoy the moment, something I feel like we don’t do enough back home. So, if you’re in Paris and have the chance, don’t miss out on this tasting! Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
