Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome back to DinkLife! Today, we’re exploring the Musée de l’Armée, also known as the Army Museum, here in Paris. We arrived on a foggy, overcast morning, but the building itself was absolutely stunning. I didn’t know much about the museum before visiting, aside from the fact that Napoleon’s tomb is housed here. A couple of our friends at work, who are really into military history, told me it’s one of the best war museums they’ve ever seen, so I was excited to check it out. The building looked gigantic, and the view down the street toward the Eiffel Tower was incredible, especially once we made our way inside.
The museum was filled with fascinating artifacts, from massive cannons to intricate weapons and helmets, some of which were surprisingly detailed. I was especially amazed by the guns and armor from different historical periods, many of which I’d never seen before. As we moved through the museum, we encountered a range of exhibits, from the Russian and British armies to displays on World War II. The museum is incredibly well-organized, and there’s so much to see, it’s impossible to cover it all in just one visit.
After exploring the military exhibits, we headed over to Napoleon’s tomb, which was just as impressive as the museum itself. The tomb was opulent and elaborate, reminding me a bit of the grandeur of the Vatican. We spent almost two hours at the museum, but honestly, you could easily spend an entire day here—or even two—if you took your time reading through everything. The museum is massive and well worth a visit if you’re into military history.
I’m really glad we used our City Pass and Turbo Pass for this visit because it made everything so much easier and more affordable. If you’re planning a trip to Paris and are interested in history, this museum is definitely a must-see. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
