Conquering 284 Stairs: Stunning Paris Views from the Arc de Triomphe!

Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome back to DinkLife! Today, we’re at the top of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and let me tell you, the 284 stairs to get up here were quite the workout. There is an elevator, but it’s only available for people with disabilities, so if you’re not up for the climb, tough luck! The stairs were manageable for me, but I have to admit, I’m terrified of heights, so the spiral staircase was a bit nerve-wracking. It reminded me of the climb to the top of the Statue of Liberty—beautiful but a little unsettling. Thankfully, I made it to the top, and the views from up here were absolutely worth it.

We’re so glad we used our City Pass for this trip because it made getting in so easy and included all sorts of great attractions like this one. The pass covered everything on our phone, so we didn’t have to worry about buying individual tickets. The views from the top of the Arc de Triomphe are incredible— you can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance, and the whole city stretches out below. As someone who gets anxious with heights, I was relieved that the view wasn’t as terrifying as I thought it would be, mainly because Paris doesn’t have as many skyscrapers as other cities. The climb was intense, but the view and the experience made it all worth it.

The spiral staircase up was definitely a bit tougher than coming down, but overall, I’d say it wasn’t as bad as I expected, even with my fear of heights. If you’re someone who’s not great with stairs or heights, just take it slow, bring some water, and pace yourself. We saw a few people at the top who were really struggling, so I’d recommend not rushing. It’s a workout, but once you reach the top, it’s totally worth it. If you’re in Paris, visiting the Arc de Triomphe should definitely be on your list of things to do.

Getting to the Arc is easy—you just have to cross the street and go through an underground tunnel. It’s not difficult to find, and the whole experience is well worth it. So, if you’re planning a trip here, don’t skip this one. And as always, just remember, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
