Hey, it’s Wes and Chanda, and welcome to DinkLife! We’ve made it to our last stop of the day in Paris, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a day. Today, we’re finally heading into the Louvre. We were here six years ago for just a quick photo by the pyramid and then left, so we’re excited to actually get inside and see what’s happening. The Louvre still requires reservations, and we booked our tickets almost a month ago, so we’re good to go. On Friday nights, they stay open a bit later, so we’re hoping it won’t be as crowded, though we’re probably wrong. We’re just here to see the Mona Lisa, but we’ll check out some other exhibits too. We also got in with our museum pass, which has been a lifesaver, allowing us to skip the long ticket lines—definitely worth it!
As we made our way inside, the building itself took our breath away. The ceilings and architecture are absolutely stunning, and we were just in awe of the space. We took the elevator and followed the signs, heading straight to the Mona Lisa. There it was, tucked away in its room. It’s a lot smaller than you might think, but it’s still impressive. Honestly, it’s hard to get close enough to truly appreciate the details, but it’s still a bucket-list item for so many people. After seeing the Mona Lisa, we moved on to check out the Venus de Milo, which was even more stunning than I expected. The sculptures in this museum are just incredible. It’s hard to imagine a better collection, even compared to the ones we’ve seen in Rome. If you love art, especially sculptures, this place is a must.
Unfortunately, the Egyptian rooms were closed during our visit, which was a bummer since we were really looking forward to them. But it just gives us an excuse to come back one day. Even without that, we spent a good amount of time wandering through the museum, marveling at the art and architecture. The Louvre is massive, and we barely scratched the surface. If you’re planning to visit, I’d recommend not doing it at the end of a long day like we did. It’s so large, and there’s so much to see that you could easily spend an entire day here. But no matter what time you come, it’s always going to be busy. If you get the chance, make sure to stop by—it’s one of those experiences you won’t forget. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
