Exploring Sensoji Temple and Street Food in Asakusa Tokyo

Hey it’s Wes and Chanda and welcome to DinkLife! Today, we took a trip out to Asakusa to visit the iconic Sensoji Temple. After a short metro ride from Shinjuku, we were amazed at the peaceful, respectful atmosphere on the trains—such a contrast to back home.

At Sensoji, we tried the traditional fortune-drawing ritual. I, Wes, ended up with good luck, while Chanda got a bad fortune, but she quickly tied it to the temple racks to leave the bad luck behind. We loved seeing all the small gardens, impressive temple ceilings, and the Tokyo Skytree in the distance.

Afterward, we walked through the bustling streets filled with food stalls and souvenir shops. We tasted crispy curry buns, cheesy breads, sweet bean-filled cookies, sugar-coated strawberries, and chewy rice dumplings. Everything was so well-priced and incredibly tasty!

We even found adorable dog outfits and played with Gacha machines filled with cute collectibles. Asakusa was crowded even on a Monday morning, so we definitely recommend getting there early. We had a fantastic time and can’t wait to share more! Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
