Hey it’s Wes and Chanda and welcome to DinkLife! We recently spent a lively afternoon exploring Harajuku, specifically the buzzing and colorful Takeshita Street. This iconic Tokyo hotspot is known for its outlandish fashion, kawaii culture, and street snacks galore—and it did not disappoint. The energy was high, even on a weekday, as we navigated through crowds and sampled some tasty local treats.
We started off with chicken bites smothered in cheese and soy sauce, followed by the sweetest strawberries and grapes we’ve ever tasted. Later, we grabbed a huge soy sauce and butter-flavored potato on a stick—definitely better than we expected. Along the way, we stopped in whimsical shops like “Wiggle Wiggle” and snagged some capsule toys from our favorite gachapon stores.
Of course, no Harajuku trip is complete without visiting one of the quirky animal cafes. We talked about our past visits to the dog and mini pig cafes—both were adorable experiences that we highly recommend if you’re an animal lover. While we didn’t have time for the Capybara Cafe this time around, it’s still on our bucket list.
Takeshita Street might be overwhelming for those who dislike crowds, but for us, the excitement is all part of the charm. We had a fantastic time soaking in the sights, sounds, and flavors of Harajuku. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
