Safari Inn Hotel Review Near Universal Studios: Old-School Charm & Surprising Quality

Hey it’s Wes and Chanda and welcome to DinkLife! We just wrapped up a stay at the Safari Inn near Universal Studios and wanted to share our thoughts. From the outside, this place looks like a retro 1950s motel—maybe even a little sketchy—but once we got inside, we were surprised at how clean and spacious the rooms actually were.

We’ve learned from past experience to never book a hotel under an 8.0 rating on Expedia, and this one had a solid 9.2. It didn’t disappoint. The room came with two comfy queen beds, a TV, a workspace, a fridge (no microwave), and a separate sink area outside the bathroom. The only thing that could use updating was the shower head, but everything else felt great for the price.

One really important tip we shared in the video—many LA hotels don’t allow late-night check-ins. The Safari Inn does, and that saved us after a very late flight. The location is also a huge win: just 10 minutes from Universal Studios and with access to an on-site restaurant and a small lounge area at the connected Coast Hotel.

If you’re planning a trip to LA and need something affordable, clean, and close to major attractions, we definitely recommend the Safari Inn. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
