Inside Chicago’s #1 Hidden Tiki Bar – Three Dots and a Dash!

Hey it’s Wes and Chanda and welcome to DinkLife. This weekend we found ourselves in the Windy City, and true to our tradition, we searched for a unique bar experience. Our search led us to the hidden gem Three Dots and a Dash, and its intimate sidekick, the Bamboo Room. Nestled in a back alley behind a bustling street in downtown Chicago, it’s one of those places you’d never stumble upon unless you were looking for it.

We kicked things off in the Bamboo Room, a rum-centric haven with a single bartender mixing up some of the finest high-end tiki cocktails we’ve ever had. The setting was dark, cozy, and elevated—clearly focused on the art of the drink. From there, we transitioned into Three Dots and a Dash, the main tiki bar that’s equally atmospheric and full of character. The vibe here was more open, yet still classy with a strong tiki aesthetic. It was standing-room only by the bar, so we were thankful for our reservation.

We indulged in a round of cocktails, including the Jet Pilot and Saturn, and followed them with some truly stellar food. The firecracker chicken, steak skewers with lettuce wraps, and loaded fries were all hits. It’s easily some of the best food we’ve ever had at a tiki bar. The whole place smelled like a Polynesian escape, thanks to a blend of white lotus and bamboo oils. It gave off serious Disney Polynesian Resort vibes and made the whole experience feel extra special.

By the end, we had spent three hours immersed in the atmosphere, drinks, and food. We even walked out with $100 worth of merch. If you’re a fan of tiki bars and happen to be anywhere near downtown Chicago, do not skip this spot. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
