London Christmas Lights Double-Decker Bus Tour – Was It Worth It?

Hey it’s Wes and Chanda and welcome to DinkLife. We wanted to share a real behind-the-scenes moment with you from our recent trip to London. We booked a Christmas lights double-decker bus tour through Cluke, thinking it would be a magical way to see the city’s holiday charm. The tickets cost us around $90 for two people, and we had high hopes based on the glowing reviews we’d read.

The day of the tour didn’t start smoothly. We had to reschedule the ride due to a previous conflict, and then we almost missed it again because we misjudged how far we were from the pick-up point. After a mad dash through the London Underground—potato dish in hand—we barely made it. To make matters worse, I left a bag of $100 worth of items behind at a Christmas market in the rush. I was determined not to let it ruin my mood, but the cold, misty weather and the fast-paced bus tour didn’t help.

Honestly, while the guide was informative and the lights above us were pretty, we found that the experience just didn’t live up to what we expected. Most of the lights were best seen on foot, and the bus didn’t allow much time to actually enjoy or photograph them. In comparison, we found a river boat cruise and an afternoon tea bus tour to be far more enjoyable and better value.

The best part of the night? We actually found our lost bag at a nearby bar—someone had turned it in! That small act of kindness really lifted our spirits. But overall, we wouldn’t do this bus tour again unless the price was significantly lower or the weather perfect. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
