Press the Buzzer for a Secret Night at Evans & Peel Detective Agency in London

Hey its Wes and Chanda and welcome to Dinklife

When we were in London, we made it our mission to find a unique niche bar, and we absolutely found one with Evans and Peel. Tucked down a small side street, this hidden speakeasy required us to press a buzzer and speak to a detective before we were allowed inside. The entire experience was set up like a 1920s detective agency during Prohibition, and from the moment we started answering questions about our “crime,” we were fully immersed.

Once we made it downstairs, we were seated in a cozy space filled with vintage decor and crime themed details. The cocktail menu was presented as a case file, and many of the drinks were named after real historical figures from the Prohibition era. I ordered the Stephanie St. Clair from the moonshiner section, and Wes chose one from the bandits list. The drinks were fantastic, and we even ordered a surprisingly affordable snack platter to go along with them.

What really made the night special was the people we met. We ended up talking with locals and fellow travelers from all over the world, sharing travel stories and recommendations. Even though there was a typical 90 minute limit, we were able to stay longer since it was not too busy early in the evening.

If you are heading to London and love immersive experiences, Evans and Peel is absolutely worth checking out. Go earlier if you want a quieter atmosphere or later if you are looking for live music and a livelier crowd. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
