Is This The Best Science Museum in America? Chicago Museum Tour

Hey its Wes and Chanda and welcome to Dinklife. On our last day in Chicago we decided to visit the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, one of the most famous science museums in the country. We had visited years ago, but it had been so long that it almost felt like seeing it for the first time again. The museum is huge and packed with hands on exhibits, historic vehicles, aircraft, and science displays that make learning fun for all ages.

One of the things we were most excited about was the coal mine tour. It was an optional add on experience, but for us it was absolutely worth it. The tour took us down into a recreated coal mine where we learned how miners used to work and how modern mining equipment operates today. The guided experience included an elevator ride down into the mine and even a small train ride through the tunnels.

After the tour we spent hours exploring the rest of the museum. There were exhibits covering aviation, electricity, transportation, and even space exploration. One of the coolest sections featured a detailed model train city that transitions from day to night, and we also got to walk through a real aircraft and see incredible displays about engineering and technology.

By the time we finished exploring we had spent about three and a half hours inside and still did not see everything. If you plan to visit, we would recommend giving yourself at least four hours. It is an amazing museum and one of the best science museums we have visited. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
