We recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Ireland, and one of the highlights came from stepping outside our comfort zone.
A few months before traveling, we connected with our LinkedIn friend, Julie. While in Galway, she met up with Chanda Porter and me at a local pub, and we spent the evening sharing stories about our unique career paths and the cultural differences between our countries.
It was also Chanda’s birthday the day we met, and Julie was so kind to bring her a gift. It was a great way to end Chanda’s birthday and a truly memorable part of our trip. Hopefully, we’ll meet again in the future because we really enjoyed our time together.
Beyond that, we spent eight days exploring the country, driving nearly 600 miles (on the “wrong” side of the road, at least for us). There were a few stressful moments on narrow roads, but the experience was absolutely worth it. The landscapes were stunning, almost otherworldly at times, and the dramatic coastal changes during low tide were fascinating compared to our American coast.
What stood out most, though, was the people. Everywhere we went, we were met with warmth, friendliness, and great conversation—along with a few pub stories we’ll never forget.
Grateful for the experience, the connections, and the memories.
Thank you, Julie, and thank you, Ireland. Looking forward to crossing paths again.
