We Explored Pier 39 After Alcatraz and It Totally Surprised Us!

Hey its Wes and Chanda and welcome to DinkLife! After wrapping up our tour of Alcatraz, we walked over to Pier 39 since it was just a short distance from the ferry. We had planned ahead by parking nearby, making it easy to spend the entire day exploring the area. Before we started filming, we grabbed some pizza that ended up being surprisingly good, then made our way through the famous waterfront destination.

As we explored Pier 39, we found there was so much more to see than we expected. We enjoyed incredible views of Alcatraz, watched the famous sea lions relaxing on the docks, and wandered through an endless variety of unique shops. From Christmas decorations and candy stores to dog boutiques, cable car souvenirs, magic shops, and the Alcatraz Store, there was always something interesting around the next corner. One of our favorite stops was the Candy Baron, where we picked out an assortment of unusual saltwater taffy flavors that brought back memories of an old candy shop back home.

Before leaving, we stopped into the Biscoff café to try one of their famous lattes. Wes ordered the Biscoff latte while I went with an eggnog latte, and both were absolutely delicious. The rain finally started just as we were finishing up, but considering the forecast had called for rain all day, we felt incredibly lucky that it held off until the very end.

Pier 39 ended up being one of the biggest surprises of our San Francisco trip. We expected a typical tourist attraction, but instead found a fun waterfront full of great shopping, tasty food, beautiful scenery, and plenty to do for a few hours. If you’re visiting San Francisco, especially after touring Alcatraz, we definitely recommend adding Pier 39 to your itinerary. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
