Is the California Academy of Sciences Worth It? Our Honest Review

Hey its Wes and Chanda and welcome to DinkLife! We spent Christmas Day exploring one of San Francisco’s most impressive attractions, the California Academy of Sciences. Since many attractions were closed for the holiday, this turned out to be the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Thanks to our San Francisco CityPASS, getting in was simple, and we couldn’t wait to see everything this incredible museum had to offer.

We wandered through the massive rainforest dome filled with butterflies, tropical birds, frogs, reptiles, and lush plants before making our way down into the aquarium. We also explored fascinating exhibits featuring venomous animals, African wildlife, gemstones, fossils, and even experienced the earthquake simulator. Everywhere we turned there was something new to discover, making the visit both fun and educational.

One of our favorite parts was the living rooftop garden, which offered beautiful views of San Francisco while showcasing sustainable landscaping. The museum was modern, well designed, and packed with hands on exhibits that would be perfect for families with kids. We managed to see nearly everything during our visit, only skipping the planetarium because we wanted to avoid the crowds at closing time.

Overall, we had an amazing experience and would absolutely recommend visiting the California Academy of Sciences if you’re planning a trip to San Francisco. Pairing it with the San Francisco CityPASS made it an even better value, and it quickly became one of our favorite stops in the city. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
