Hey its Wes and welcome to Dinklife. This time I headed up to Detroit by myself for the Woodward Dream Cruise 2026. Chanda had a pool party with her girlfriends, so I decided to make the drive and spend the day checking out one of the biggest celebrations of car culture around. I arrived around 8:30 in the morning near 13 Mile and Woodward, found a great place to park, and started wandering with absolutely no pressure or schedule.
I saw an unbelievable variety of vehicles throughout the day. There were classic Corvettes, Mustangs, Trans Ams, Grand Nationals, Gremlins, Vipers, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Fiats, and just about everything in between. Some of my favorites were the crazy custom builds and themed vehicles. I spotted the Mystery Machine, a Jurassic Park Jeep, the Blues Brothers car, Herbie, and the A Team van. There were also plenty of unusual cars that I had never seen before, which was one of the best parts of walking the Dream Cruise.
I eventually walked north toward Birmingham, checking out the cars cruising Woodward and all of the displays along the way. Chevrolet had a huge presence with Corvettes, concept vehicles, engines, merchandise, and even a 1000 horsepower motor demonstration. I also kept spotting the Goodyear Blimp flying overhead. By the afternoon the area had completely transformed from the relatively quiet streets I had arrived at that morning into a packed celebration filled with cars and people.
After making my way back to the car, I had one more stop before heading home. I visited Goodyear’s newly rebranded Detroit store and checked out the Motor City branding, vintage advertisements, special vehicles, merchandise, and some really cool automotive displays. After spending the entire day walking around Woodward, I understood why so many people come back for this event every year. I would definitely do it again. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
