Hey its Wes and Chanda and welcome to Dinklife! We finally made it to Knott’s Scary Farm for our very first visit, and since we had no idea when we might make it back, we decided to go all in. We purchased the Fright Lane package and added the Boo fet buffet, which gave us dinner, early entry into the park and unlimited nonalcoholic drink refills. The buffet ended up being a great way to start the evening, with tons of different food choices, desserts and monsters roaming around interacting with guests. We thought the early entry alone made the experience even better because we were already inside and ready to go before the main event officially began.
Once Knott’s Scary Farm started, we immediately began working our way through the haunted houses. We experienced Cinema Slasher, Room 13, Origins: The Curse of Calico, Widows, The Zoo, Mary, Unearthed and several others throughout the night. What impressed us most was just how detailed and enormous many of these houses were. Some seemed like they were never going to end. Room 13 became one of Chanda’s favorites because of its Art Deco atmosphere, while Wes really enjoyed the 1930s cartoon style of Inked. The sets throughout the event were fantastic and several of the houses felt surprisingly close to the quality we had experienced at Halloween Horror Nights.
There was plenty more to Knott’s Scary Farm than just the haunted houses. We rode GhostRider, explored the stores, checked out all the Halloween merchandise, walked through the scare zones and watched monsters appear seemingly everywhere around the park. One of the biggest things that stood out to us was the quality of the monster makeup. There were tons of detailed prosthetics and makeup effects instead of simply relying on masks. We also watched the Hoodoo Bayou show in Calico, which included dancing, aerial performers, contortion and fire performances. It ended up being another highlight of the evening.
By around 10:00 that night, our Fright Lane passes had allowed us to complete every haunted house, which left us plenty of time for rides, food, shopping and the show before eventually leaving after midnight. Even though the park was not extremely crowded during our visit, we were still happy we purchased Fright Lane because it allowed us to experience virtually everything without worrying about long waits. Overall, Knott’s Scary Farm completely impressed us and easily became one of the best Halloween events we had experienced. We would absolutely come back again. Remember, as always, whatever you decide to do, just get out there and do it!
